Partners: Forschungsgesellschaft für Arbeitsphysiologie und Arbeitschutz e.V. (IFADO)
The Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors (IFADO) at the University of Dortmund investigates molecular mechanisms of chemical toxicity. Prof. Hengstler's group organises the HepatoSys network that already supplies 32 partners with human and mouse hepatocyte in vitro systems. The major contribution of IFADO to the project consists in supply with metabolising in vitro systems.
Key staff involved in the project
Jan G. Hengstler, Prof. Dr., MD, Head of the Department of Toxicology, has been working with hepatocyte in vitro systems for more than 12 years and has contributed to their broad acceptance in industry and academical research.
Christoph van Thriel, Dr., PhD. Head of the project group "Neurobehavioral Toxicology and Chemosensation", has been working on various problem of human neurotoxicology. During the last decade the research group conducted several longitudinal studies among worker cohorts exposed to neurotoxins and published meta-analysis on human metal neurotoxicology and has contributed to the regulation of chemicals by governmental agencies like the MAK-commission and SCOEL.
