Partners: OÜ Quretec (QURE)
Quretec is a research oriented SME that develops software for collection, management, and analysis of complex data typically arising from the biomedical domain. Quretec team was first established in 2002 as an IT department of EGeen, the commercial funder for the Estonian Genome Project (Estonian Biobank) and a current Clinical Research Organisation (CRO). The core product of Quretec, the Qure Data Management Platform (QDMP) software has been designed for collection, handling, and analysis of complex data using questionnaires and data imports. QDMP allows rapid deploying of complex studies and statistical surveys, questionnaires and metadata rich applications. In the ESNATS project Quretec will participate in the establishment of the consortium's central data repositories and normalised atlases, as well as participate in the data analysis effort.
Key staff involved in the project
Jaak Vilo, PhD, started bioinformatics research in 1994 at University of Helsinki, where he also obtained the PhD. From 1999 to 2002 he worked as a researcher at the European Bioinformatics Institute EMBL-EBI, the Europe's leading bioinformatics research centre. In 2002 Jaak Vilo repatriated to start a research group related to the bioinformatics analysis of Estonian Biobank. Research is carried on both at Quretec, whose team has been the main developer of the biobank software, and University of Tartu, the Estonia's leading national university. Jaak Vilo is a Member of Board of Quretec and is responsible for R&D of biomedical informatics. In ESNATS this expertise will be used to develop the toxicology oriented databases and tools.
Raivo Kolde, MSc (University of Tartu), is a bioinformatics scientist working on gene expression data analysis and tools development, Raivo Koldes has developed statistical methods for querying large-scale gene expression data atlases. He will be the main developer of the ESNATS warehouse and data analysis methods.
Liina Kamm, MSc (University of Tartu), is a bioinformatics scientist and a PhD student, working on data management solutions for biobanks. She will help developing the data warehouse for the ESNATS.
